Belize Natural Energy is delivering on its mission to benefit the community from its hard-won oil reserves
Everybody told us there was no oil in Belize,” says Susan Morrice, Chairperson of Belize Natural Energy (BNE). “But I knew there was oil here. I felt it innately – and so did Mike.” A geologist by profession, Morrice met her late co-founder, Mike Usher, almost two decades ago when she was invited to research the oil potential in this Central American nation. “We clicked at once,” she says of Usher. “Mike was a Belizean who wanted to make a real difference in the community, and so did I. Then we attended an Educo seminar together, which cemented our ambition to discover the first oil in Belize and be part of the country’s transformation.”
